Whether you are doing spring cleaning or just trying to keep things neat, it is often the little things that pose the biggest challenge! Because while we all know how the big things like vacuum blankets and wiping countertops, smaller spaces like window sills, air outlets and other hooks and hooks are not exactly covered by our everyday routines.

So I thought in today’s post I would do my best to save us all time and effort by sharing a few helpful cleaning tips! But more specifically, I will focus on tips for cleaning hard-to-reach places around the house.

As you work your way around the house, this list will surely save you time, energy and frustration when cleaning these difficult locations and items! 🙂

1. Keyboard cracks

The hooks and corners under the keys on your computer keyboard may be difficult to clean, but this cleaning gel can help! Press the back of your keyboard to loosen any loose crumbs and dirt, then turn it over again and spread the gel over the keys to collect any leftovers.

2. Valves for cars

Do the vents in your car look a little dusty? Use a cheap sponge paint to wipe dust or dirt away. The handle on the brush helps you reach out into the ventilation openings to brush dust and dirt away, no problem!

3. Window curtains

Dusting your blinds can be a real pain, but it can make it much easier to use your kitchen tongs! Just take your kitchen tongs, a few microfiber cleaning wipes and some elastics.

Wrap the cloths around the ends of your pliers and secure them with rubber bands. Use the cloth-covered pliers to quickly clean both the top and bottom of each slat in your blinds.

4. Faucets

Faucets in your kitchen and bathroom can get dirty with mineral deposits, mildew and bacteria over time. An old toothbrush is a great tool for scrubbing them clean!

The toothbrush scrubbing treatment and a little bit of soapy water will help you clear all nooks and crannies. (And be sure to use this tip to make your old toothbrush an even better cleaning tool!)

5. Under the edge of your toilet

The area under the edge of your toilet bowl is a hot spot for all kinds of discomfort! Sometimes even a good scrub does not get it completely clean.

The best way to clean this hard-to-reach area is to soak a few paper towels in white vinegar and pile them up under the toilet. Let the vinegar work its magic for about 30 minutes, then discard the paper towels and use your toilet brush to scrub away the remaining gunk. (Bonus: This tip also works well for cleaning dirty shower door grooves!)

6. Window tracks

Your vacuum probably has cracks for attachments, but they may not be useful in every situation. For example, the cracking tool that came with my vacuum is not narrow enough to fit into the grooves in my windows, making it difficult to clean the accumulated dirt!

But I discovered a good DIY solution to this problem and all it takes is some tape and a paper tube from the center of a roll of toilet paper or paper towels. Just tape one end of the tube to your vacuum hose, then flatten the other end so you can push it into your window grooves and other narrow spaces. Wise, right?

7. Dishwasher filter

To keep your dishwasher in top shape, it is important to keep the inside clean and free of food debris. Use an old toothbrush to clean screens, filters and other small removable parts in your dishwasher.

8. Car slots

Some of the nooks and crannies around your car’s interior may seem impossible to clean! But cotton swabs can make it quick and easy to clean even the tightest spaces.

Use a cotton swab to brush loose dust and dirt, or moisten it with a little alcohol to wipe stubborn gunk away.

9. Air valves

To quickly clean your vents around the house, start by vacuuming them to remove loose dust. Then wrap a microfiber cloth around a butter knife and use it to remove any dust that may get stuck in the openings in the vent cover.

10. Shower head

Do you find it difficult to scrub all mineral deposits and limescale deposits away from your shower head? Replace the elbow grease with white vinegar, which does all the hard work for you!

If you can remove your shower head, do so and place it in a container of vinegar for a few hours. If you cannot remove it, fill a zippered bag with vinegar, place it over your shower head, and then secure it with an elastic band.

After a few hours, discard the vinegar and use a sponge to wipe the loosened gunk away. It looks and works like new!

11. Under appliances

Cleaning under your appliances does not have to be an affair once a year. This long, flexible dust fabric makes it faster and easier than ever to remove dust and dirt under your large appliances at regular intervals.

Then use oven gloves to gently remove the hot bowl from the microwave. The combination of steam and greasy lemon oil will have loosened the stubborn microwave so you can dry it off quickly and easily!
