Bissell PowerFresh Pet Lift-Off Steam Mop Review

by Oct 23, 2020Cleaning

Gone are the days when you would have to carry a mop in one hand and a bucket in the other. Today, you can indulge in floor care products like steam mops to clean your floors without damaging them.

However, one’s reluctance to buy the Bissell PowerFresh Pet Lift-Off Steam Mop, a product well over $ 100, is understandable. Therefore, I decided to review this mop. Is it worth the price?

Bissell has marketed the steam mop as an ideal solution for pet owners who have hardwood floors in their homes. Being a versatile steam cleaner, the Bissell PowerFresh Pet Lift-Off Steam Mop handles all sorts of clutter and has an abundance of tools.

Let’s see how well a job PowerFresh Pet Lift-Off does with floor cleaning.

Setup and installation: No hassle

The PowerFresh Pet Lift-Off is fairly easy to install as it comes pre-assembled. All you have to do is install a screw and the mop is ready to clean the floors. The mop pad is already installed so you do not have to fumble with any attachment.

Then fill the water tank and wait for 30 seconds until the water is heated. The warm-up time is optimal, as most other mops also take that long.

However, it is more challenging to fill the tank than it should be. It may be the location of the tank on the central unit that makes it difficult to access and work with. Despite this, the mop is easy to install, as reported by most reviewers.

Finally, select the steam setting per. Tile floor or wood surface. Unfortunately, PowerFresh only cleans steam at high or low settings. It does not have a wide range of steam settings like some other Bissell mops.

Design: difficult storage

PowerFresh Pet Lift-Off is a two-in-one mop with upright functionality for mopping floors and a hand-held steam unit for cleaning overlying surfaces. Thanks to the handheld steam unit, you can use the mop to clean narrow spaces and surfaces above the floor as the kitchen worktops.

However, the mop is predominantly white. Thus, it will show signs of wear clearly. The orange coating extends only to a limited part of the central unit. So you will see scrubs and scratches on the white part with regular use.

Even if you somehow manage to ignore it, the most prominent design flaw is the difficult storage. Quite shockingly, the Bissell PowerFresh Pet Lift-Off Steam Mop does not have a storage hook, which is absurd as most low-end mops also have this feature.

Since you can not hang it, leave it standing. Unfortunately, as per. Reviewers, the mop ‘does not stand alone.’ Thus, balance it against a wall or store it in a cleaning cabinet.

Second, the Bissell PowerFresh Pet Lift-Off Steam Mop does not have a swivel head. Again, this is a standard feature that you even find in steam pugs that cost under $ 50. However, Bissell seems to have focused more on the dual functionality of this product.

Finally, the mop is quite heavy at ten pounds. Fortunately, you can use it as a handheld steam unit. You do not have to carry the excess weight for cleaning over the floor.

Moreover, the design is not so much of a disaster either. The 25 meter long power cable allows you to clean the entire room without having to replace the steam mop elsewhere.

Performance: A versatile mop

While the Bissell PowerFresh Pet Lift-Off Steam Mop may have disappointed in the design department, it exceeds expectations in terms of performance. To start, fill the water tank, which will be ready for use in just 30 seconds.

The mop has a scrubbing brush that easily breaks sticky root, while the mop head cleans pet hair, dirt and grime.

As the cleaning pads extend to cover the head of the mop, they are easy to put on and remove. You can also throw them in the washing machine for quick cleaning. They dry up quickly and get ready for subsequent use.

While most other mops only have a single feature, the Bissell PowerFresh Pet Lift-Off Steam Mop is quite versatile. You can take the main part of the handle using the handheld version to clean furniture and kitchen utensils.

Without a doubt, the best part about the Bissell PowerFresh Pet Lift-Off Steam Mop is its attachments. With thirteen cleaning tools, you are spoiled for choice. The most notable accessory is the clothes steamer, which gives this steam cleaner a versatile application.

You can use it to clean furniture and attach the scent discs to freshen up your sofas and rugs. As the scent discs have a mild scent, they are also safe in homes with allergy sufferers.

The cleaning finesse of the steam mop above the floor is hard to ignore. One of the reviewers said she uses it for her stove because ‘it bursts through grease and dirt’ better than any other mop. It is also good to clean grout and dirt on your floors.

In addition, it removes 99.9% of germs and bacteria naturally from your home. You do not need to use a hard cleaner or a disinfectant as the product uses the steam.

Durability: Not reliable

Looking at the price tag, one expects PowerFresh to last for years. However, most reviewers reported flaky durability. While some people felt that the handle is prone to slight breakage, others were not so sure of the central unit’s resistance to wear.

Do not get me wrong though. If you drop the handle a few times, the mop head will not work completely. But if you use it regularly, do not expect it to last a lifetime.

Attachments: Lots of options

One of the best things about this product is the number of user-friendly attachments it comes with. First, there is an injection brush that helps remove long-lasting dirt from kitchen and bathroom mortar.

Second, there is a brush brush for cleaning sinks, stoves, ovens and countertops. You can also use it to clean inside the microwave.

The extension hose helps you clean up clutter from hard-to-reach areas that are often unnoticed. Most importantly, the steam steamer helps clean upholstery, sofas and beds. Thanks to the scent discs, every fabric in your home also smells better.

Then there is a flat scraper tool to remove attached food particles from your pet’s bowls. It also cleans pet hair and sticky mess from their toys, beds and other things. The window nail is a gift for cleaning dirty windows without putting elbow grease in it.

Finally, the angle tool can be used to disinfect and clean toys for pets, carriers and food bowls.

Price: High but justified

Without a doubt, the Bissell steam mop is one of the most expensive options on the market, but the price is justified. Although you have to pay a high upfront cost, you get the functionality of several tools in one device.

At the end of the day, PowerFresh is not just an upright steam mop. It is also a handheld device, a clothes steamer and a joint cleaner. If you have saved enough money, I would suggest getting this steam mop to replace the older cleaning tools.

Competition: Bissell takes the lead

Shark Steam Pocket Mop Hard Floor Cleaner with rotary control

Bissels PowerFresh’s apparent competition is the Shark Steam Pocket Mop Hard Floor Cleaner with Swivel Steering, which is made for a similar job. Shark Steam Mop is suitable for wooden floors such as PowerFresh and offers cleaning plus disinfection.

However, it boasts a swivel mop head, which is missing in PowerFresh. There is also a noticeable difference in price.

Other than that, Shark Steam, with easy installation and a long power cord, is similar to PowerFresh. However, it lacks most of PowerFresh’s accessories, making it come in second place over the most versatile steam mop.

If you have a budget, choose Shark Pocket. But if you want versatile performance, consider raising your budget to buy the Bissell PowerFresh Steam Mop.
