Vinegar is not what we prefer to clean constructed wood floors. So what product we suggest and how to clean adhesive wood floors is our topic of discussion. So let’s talk about how to do it the right way.

Not vinegar, but rubbing alcohol

Instead of the over-consumed and everyone’s favorite vinegar, we prefer to rub alcohol to clean the sticky wood floor.

If you want, you can use vinegar, it is a product that also works on hardwood, so it will not be so bad for constructed wood floors. To keep your constructed wood floor and its protective layer on top, avoid cleaning it with acetic acid.

Rubbing alcohol is far milder, but effective in cleaning the stickiness from the engineered hardwood. And it is also a disinfectant. So when you clean with it, you disinfect the surface at the same time.

But we must say that when cleaning a darkly constructed wood floor, make sure that it does not become sticky from the start. That way, you do not even have to use any extra product for deep cleansing.

How to clean sticky hardwood floors

Homemade detergent with rubbing alcohol

  • Make your own floor cleaner with equal parts of distilled water and alcohol in a bottle. Then add a few drops of dish soap to make the detergent more potent to remove stubborn sticky residue.
  • The floor cleaner is ready; now, when you want to dry the sticky wooden floor, simply add a whole cap, at best two tablespoons in half a bucket of water.
  • To remove stains, spray the solution directly on them and then wait 5 minutes for the cleaner to work and break the stubborn stains into fine particles.

Do the dusting before drying?

  • Although it is a sticky surface, the dust has never jumped.
  • If you have difficulty dusting off the sticky surface with a broom, just take a stick mop, attach a pad to it, and dry the floor thoroughly.
  • Disposable pillows are the best for peating the adhesive floors.
  • We need zero dust particles on the surface to save us from deep cleaning of another layer of sticky residue.

Damp-mop with rubbing of homemade cleaning solution

  • When you have a dust-free, engineered hardwood floor, take the mop, attach another pad to it, and soak it in water mixed with alcohol, distilled water, and dish soap. Because of the soap, there will be foam, so be prepared to deal with it.
  • Each time the water seems dirty, change it and clean the rest of the floor with clean water. Do not let it seem boring and avoid changing water because once you make yourself think it’s hard work and continue to mop up with the same dirty water, the sticky residue never disappears from the floor. Whatever you did or want to do, it will be a massive waste of time and energy.
  • Also, make sure that you twist the mop thoroughly to remove every drop of excess water from it. Wet mopping will eventually cause damage to otherwise resistant to moisture-constructed wood floors from the inside.
  • It is imperative to follow a pattern while cleaning the wood layer. It helps to avoid streaks on the veneer. By simply keeping a few important points in mind, such as moping in a straight line, you can ensure a strip-free, sticky, clean, and disinfected hardwood floor.
  • If an area is still not cleared of stickiness, continue rubbing it with the same pad. It is microfiber so it does not get hard.
  • You can also try direct spraying of the rubbing alcohol cleaning solution and rub it with a cotton ball or pillow. The sticky residue eventually disappears.

Moisten the mop with clean water without detergent

  • Just as you have moistened the mopped floor with water and cleaning solution, in the same way you need to remove the foam, residue, and cleaning solution from the engineered hardwood surface.
  • Wash the microfiber pad thoroughly. Disposable use is not possible in this case, so be sure to use reusable and washable.
  • Now moisten the pillow in clean water and mop the constructed wooden floor following the same pattern to remove foam and residue.

Be sure to dry the floor thoroughly

  • Constructed wood floors are very resistant to water, yet it is always better not to moisten them for obvious reasons.
  • The less you moisten such floors, the longer they last. It is still a wooden layer with several layers made of plywood and different materials underneath. The water will eventually seep in.
  • So after moisture mopping and deep cleaning of the floor, sweep the dry pronto. Do not let the water or alcohol seep in by skipping this quick but necessary step.

Last tip

So what you need to do is use the specified floor cleaner, frequently changing water while mopping the floor, immediately deep clean beverages and food spilled, wipe the wet floor, lay carpets without plastic bases, and the adhesive constructed wood floor problem will be almost solved and will never show up again.

It is quite clearly more than mopping, we ask for regular dry sweeping of the constructed wooden floor. And about adhesive floors, if you take care of the problems that cause stickiness right from the start, there will be no sticky constructed wood flooring. So dry sweeping and wet mopping when the floor desperately needs it is the only way to keep constructed wood floors clean without stickiness.
