Vivint Doorbell Camera Pro review

Vivint Video Doorbell Featured

While this Vivint camera has many of the same features as other smart doorbell cameras, such as two-way conversation, night vision and motion detection, one stood out: Smart Sentry. If you’ve ever struggled with porch pirates, you like this feature just as much as we do.

First, the security camera detects a package on your porch and warns you about the app. Then Smart Sentry goes to work. If Smart Sentry detects someone on your porch, the light on the smart doorbell turns red and flashes, and the doorbell emits a loud whistle (or you can adjust it to a different sound) to scare all potential thieves away.

Even better, the doorbell’s security camera says out loud “Camera recording”. If it does not scare a porch pirate, they do not care to be caught.

Vivint Doorbell Camera Pro’s field of view is impressive. At 180 ° field of view, the camera covers more area than almost any other doorbell camera on the market. Even some of the best doorbell cameras have 150 ° to 160 ° field of view. The only exception is the Arlo Video Doorbell, which also comes in a 180 ° circumference.

What does it mean to you? You can see the faces of very tall people on your porch. Also, a doorbell camera with such a large field of view captures not only activity on your porch, but also a large part of your front yard. In fact, you may be able to skip a video doorbell and security camera combination and just use this doorbell camera to monitor your front yard alone.

The video quality let us down a bit at just 720p. During our test, the video had great contrast and a bit of distortion, but it was a bit grainy. However, you could still easily identify faces, which is important.
